Updates from Cities, Communication Highlights, and Next Steps

The SET-PED project continues to move forward in its three pilot cities: Eskilstuna, Bucharest – Sector 6 and Mascalucia. During the latest consortium meeting, partners shared updates on local progress and discussed the next steps for the coming months.

🌍 Updates from Pilot Cities

Eskilstuna

In Eskilstuna, an important workshop took place on 27 May, bringing partners and local stakeholders together to support the next steps of the pilot.

Since the last consortium meeting, the city has reached a major milestone: the SET-PED urban furniture prototype has been implemented in public space. This marks an important step in moving from co-creation and planning towards real-life testing and use.

Bucharest – Sector 6

In Bucharest – Sector 6, the local workshop took place on 11 June. The activity helped connect the project with the local context, stakeholder perspectives and the future use of the prototype.

Following the workshop, materials for the prototype were collected, and the pilot is now entering the ideation stage. The design process is being shaped by the materials available, the specific conditions of Bucharest and the needs identified for the selected public space.

Mascalucia

In Mascalucia, preparations for the local workshop are ongoing. This activity will support the next steps of the pilot and help define how the SET-PED concept can be adapted to the local context.

The city is also moving forward with the technical preparation of the pilot. Energy simulations are expected to start soon, using the buildings surrounding the park to better connect the simulation work with the urban furniture concept and its local setting.

In parallel, partners are starting discussions on the technical requirements for the battery that will support the prototype. The implementation of the urban furniture in Mascalucia is expected to take place in autumn 2026.

🚀 Next Steps

In the coming months, partners will continue local activities across the three pilot cities, prepare the next stage of workshops and use-case scenario work, and advance the technical and sustainability-related activities that support the development of the SET-PED prototypes.
